We bring sons into the world.

We feed them and change their diapers and comfort them when they cry.

We can’t wait for them to get big enough to talk.

They become mobile and terrorize everything and eat the weirdest stuff and say the most unbelievable things .

They get scared sometimes and occasionally like snugly hugs.

School begins and there are now smarter people in their world besides their mommies and daddies.

They begin to think for themselves.

They explore their boundaries.

They make mistakes yet still try to please those around them.

On a good day you can steal a hug.

High school begins and they are so busy.

You worry about their friends and their grades.

They eat everything, period.

They laugh at stupid things, and do even dumber things.

They need only minutes of sleep at night, but for some unexplainable reason can sleep all day on the weekends!

They critique what you wear.

If they really want something they are your best friend.

They begin to say thank you, and help without being asked.

You see glimpses of great things in them.

They leave to go on missions. So excited, yet so scared.

You get a big hug then they walk away.

The letters and e-mails keep us going.

They magically return two years later all grown up.

We are glad they are home.

Then one day it is time.

Time to go.

Go to work, go to college.

Time to be adults.

Time to leave home.

The fear is gone, they are only excited.

One last hug and they are out the door.

We are so happy for them.

We watch until we see them no more, sad imprints of days gone by stamped on our hearts.

We brought sons into the world to be men.
